We are pleased to announce that the Project software has now been translated into both French and Spanish languages.ç¥ are now preparing to add the translated text to the Project in addition to the French and Spanish common names.
A considerable number of new photographs have been added to the Project databases - in fact, the photo count is now over 6,000 high-quality images - thanks to the many contributors that have supported the Project.毲 details of these see the next section of this website.
Amongst other benefits, the impending roll-outs promise to be a major step forward in relation to obtaining good-quality photographs for inclusion in the Project.
Work has commenced on a database of Management and Scientific Authorities which includes relevant administration and contact details as well as scans of sample import and export permits, etc..
The first release of this section will include the details of a number of countries and will rapidly expand once we receive feedback from our users.
The Medicines section is currently being dramatically re-worked by the CITES team to include approximately 300 new products, bringing the total to over six hundred. This should make the medicines section of the Project one of the most comprehensive identification guides available for such products.
The plants section of the database is scheduled for a major review.ç¥ are planning to re-organise the current flora database and will then start looking for sources of suitable photographs.
We are continuing to update the Project databases to reflect any changes. We have also spent a lot of time recently verifying the available species data and correcting any incorrect or outdated information to ensure that our users can have the utmost confidence in the quality of the data.
We are now looking to make best use of the Internetã ¡ support and distribution medium for the many Project users around the world. We are now going to make all new releases and all support files and documents available for instant download by authorised users - we are even hoping to make the most recent photos available as well!
Whilst this won't replace the need for initial distributions by CD it will make it much easier for users to get answers to the majority of the support questions that they may have and will enable users to obtain the very latest updates to the Project as soon as they are released.
